New Music Alert!
Life Of Crime explores two sides of the economic spectrum from a criminal point of view in classic punk-rock single, (Side A/ Side B , fashion. Each song tells a story, one from a point of desperation, one from a point of privilege, both from a Life Of Crime.
The songs were written and recorded by Kim Carson and Jillian Comeau in home studios in Halifax, NS and Winooski, VT - except for drums played by Clare Macdonald and recorded at Ocean Floor Studio in Halifax, NS. Life Of Crime was mixed by Dave Casey and mastered by Fransico Lopes.
We Should've Been Plumbers is the indie-rock brainchild of longtime collaborators Kim Carson and Jillian Comeau. After 6 years of writing and performing together in their first project, Like A Motorcycle, the duo has regrouped and stripped things down to the essentials -raw songwriting, and a name that reflects the "what ifs" of life.
Drawing inspiration from the gritty sounds of '90s Canadian rock, We Should've Been Plumbers delivers a blend of punchy, melodic rock with an a sound that is unmistakably their own. Their self-titled debut EP, released in March of 2022, quickly made waves, earning a nomination for Rock Recording of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards.

New Ep Alert!
La Lune - Everything is an eternal circle and it repeats and repeats itself
After kicking off 2025 with two standout singles and a string of live performances, Vancouver, BC’s la lune returns with a new EP, everything is an eternal circle and it repeats and repeats itself—a follow-up to their 2024 debut release, disparity
Across the EP’s eight tracks—including the previously released singles “quiet considerations” and “expressionless”—La Lune delves into the subtle disorientation of living with trauma. The EP takes its name from a concept introduced in a therapy session—a “trauma vortex,” which describes the repetitive, spiraling nature of unprocessed emotion. The band leans into repetition, distance, and disorientation, using slow-building arrangements to reflect the lingering pull of past experiences that never fully let go. Rather than confront it directly, the songs drift around the edges, circling the same ideas in loops of sound and repetition. There’s no clear resolution, but a steady pull inward.

Rosy Overdrive:
To be perfectly honest with you, readers, right now, this moment, is the busiest that I (the person behind this blog) have been in a very long time (in terms of things outside of the world of Rosy Overdrive, I mean). So far I’ve been able to keep the blog posts coming at a normal pace, but for the first time in quite a while I’ve had to consider the fact that I might not be able to at some point in the near future. Hopefully this doesn’t happen! There’s still a ton of good new music on which I’d like to put a spotlight. The good news is that the April 2025 playlist is here, though, and it features a ton of this aforementioned good, new music. Check it out!
